- 4/16 1:27 pm - STORY: The story of this character who is clearly struggling is clearly communication. The concept is unique and draws the viewer in! I really enjoy the moments at 0:45 and 1:27 where the character is in the bathroom. These shots do a great job showing emotional vulnerability through posture and facial expressions.
SOUND: Your audio is properly mixed and it matches the overall tone that you were going for. I think as an extra, it would be nice to hear some sound effects under the music. For example, you could include a sound of the character when he sweeps the floor, or of a train passing. That could really add more substance to your audio mix!
CAMERA: Your camera placement and movement is thoughtfully handled. It’s especially impressive given the stop motion format. Be mindful of consistency in white balance, particularly between 0:34 and 0:43, where the images shift from warmer to cooler ones. I understand this can be tricky when working with stop motion but adjusting in post or setting lights to a consistent color temperature can help smooth transitions and unify the look of your piece.
LIGHTING: Your lighting is used well throughout the music video. I really enjoyed the lighting you used during the train shot at 0:08. It very much reflects the lighting you would see in the real world. Really harsh lighting and maybe at times lighting that doesn't illuminate in a super bright way (just like how you have it on the left side of your frame for this shot vs the right side).
EDITING: Your pacing is great! You give the viewer time to sit with each moment and to feel what the character is going through! Overall, the stop motion is incredibly well done and you have put together a very compelling story! Great work!
- 2/18 10:11 am - The use of stop motion animation in this video is both creative and highly effective in telling the story. It’s a unique medium that immediately stands out and adds a distinct artistic flair to the overall piece. The way the animation is utilized enhances the emotional depth of the video, allowing the viewer to connect with the narrative in a more intimate and impactful way. There’s something about the texture and fluidity of stop motion that brings a raw, tactile feeling to the visuals, which makes the story feel even more powerful.
What stands out is how well the stop motion technique complements the theme of the song. It’s not just a stylistic choice; it serves as a key storytelling element that amplifies the emotions being expressed. The motion and progression of the characters and objects in the animation give a sense of life and movement, even within the constraints of the medium. This creates a mesmerizing effect, drawing the viewer in and evoking a strong emotional response.
It is clear that a great deal of time, effort, and attention to detail went into the creation of this video. The precision required for stop motion is no small feat, and the smoothness of the animation, as well as the seamless transitions between frames, speaks volumes about the dedication involved. Each frame feels meticulously crafted, which contributes to the overall quality and professionalism of the video. The careful work behind each scene doesn’t go unnoticed and enhances the overall viewing experience.
The video’s engaging nature, combined with the emotional weight of the stop motion animation, makes it stand out from more conventional music videos. It has a level of depth and thoughtfulness that lingers with the viewer long after the video ends. It’s a fantastic example of how the right artistic choice can elevate a story, and this video succeeds in doing just that.
Overall, this is an impressive and emotionally resonant music video that uses stop motion animation in a compelling way. The dedication and skill involved are evident, and the end result is a beautifully crafted piece that effectively communicates its message. Excellent work!

Positives: The opening is visually adorable. Stop motion is so hard. I appreciate the attempt. It's good stop-motion! The editing is strong as well.
Improvements: Sometimes, the faces are cut off from the frame. Especially with stop motion, the more we can see faces, the better the storytelling,

Positives: Terrific stop motion animation. Quite moving given the simplicity of the media used. I especially liked the cinematic camera angles and compositions, and the wonderfully conceived and executed lighting.
Improvements: I know it's the nature of the narrative, but some of the spots felt repetitive, as if you reused previously seen shots or scenes. It takes so much more work to do a stop motion animation piece that you are tempted to reuse stuff to fill the length of the song. Cut the song down, or don't conceive of this as a music video. Hopefully you entered it in another category as well?
