  • 4/28 9:13 pm - Good Close-Up camera shots at the beginning of the video. Good use of text to explain the steps and list the ingredients. Music selection works well with the images you recorded. Good use of natural sound at 1:07. Voice-overs are well done. Good use of fast motion at 2:35. Very well done. Keep producing more videos.
  • 2/23 1:48 pm - AUDIO: voice over seemed a little bit muffled, but clear enough. Music bed was mixed nicely, low in the mix so it didn't distract us from the voice over. CAMERA: your camera shots were all clean, in focus, and well exposed. STORY: you clearly articulated every step, verbally through your voice over, and with your camera shots, titles, and editing. This is a very nicely done demonstration.

Positives: You really set this up well with your intro. You did a great job locking the camera down for the passage of time sequence popping the ingredients into the frame.

Improvements: I would like to have seen you in the video to maintain the warm, family feel you set up with the intro and also to vary the visual interest a little with all those tight cooking shots.

Positives: The shots of the final product are gorgeous and well lit. The natural light of the space is used well. The split screen at 1:19 is engaging and gives the viewer a preview of what's coming. The process is clearly explained and the visuals enforce what is being described, making the whole project easy to follow. Shots like at 1:21 make it easy for the viewer to see what the desired texture of the meringue is.

Improvements: Some of the shots of b-roll seem to have natural sound while others don't - either commit and include room tone so cuts like 1:55 stick out less or don't include the sound from each clip. When there’s a fan in the background it makes the cut obvious. Be careful with focus in some of the close up shots, the meringue and the hands at 1:15 and 1:20 are a hair soft.

Positives: Incredible job on details. Another FoodTV special. What a beautiful attempt.

Improvements: I realize it is tough to do a three minute cooking show. There were technical issues with this video. Don't use metric in Chicago.
