- 2/18 8:01 am - Audio is clear, and the camera work allows for a variety of shots. I actually really like the wide shots of the performance to show the scale of the performance, and I think more close-up shots positioned differently for this would be ideal. However, I still loved the camera movement at moments (like when they slide the kid on the bench, that was well-executed).
Judge 1
Positives: Thank you for allowing me to view and judge your video. Stage productions are one of the hardest things to video record because you don't control anything - including the lighting, colors, or audio. I think you did very good work. Good work in very difficult lighting. I really like all the different camera angles!
Improvements: A few of the clips could have been a little darker. Darker exposure setting. A few more close up. Maybe one as close as just a singing face. I know that is hard in a big production.
Judge 2
Positives: -great establishing shot at the beginning -awesome job following the action
Improvements: -be careful not to switch too quick in between shots -showing the entire stage when everyone is on it will help you reduce the amount of times you have to change the shot
Judge 3
Positives: the musicality of the cuts and camera positioning was fantastic Following the script and having cameras in place before they needed to be where they needed to be showed that this was well rehearsed. Overall everything worked really well. it was entertaining
Improvements: The video wall in the background should have been fully avoided by all camera shots, the video feedback was distracting and should have been avoided, and could have been used as an additional story telling element via the switcher. Audio was overall great, but the feedback hits were painful.
Judge 4
Positives: The camera cuts had a good pace and worked well with music and vocals. The director did a good job working so many cameras. Good work capturing various parts of the stage where action was taking place.
Improvements: If possible, it would nice to see closer shots of the main singers and less group shots. It was great that you had so many cameras, the but the framing of the shots from theses cameras were too similar. In situations like this, consider using 2 cameras in the center next to each other, one as a wide shot (like you had) and the other would capture close ups from the center.
