Elliot, a high school student trapped in the performative world of social media. Driven by anxiety and a need for control, he meticulously curates his online presence, adhering to a strict checklist and relying on an old gold watch to manage his time. However, his obsession with online perfection isolates him from genuine connection.
Positives: Interesting use of a shallow depth of field and framing. It brought a nice compression to the shots which communicated the anxiety well. I think your editing is very seamless and creative with your live stream shots. Beautiful lighting on the close up eye shots. You tracking shots in the hallway are very smooth. Well done.
Improvements: Watch bumping your tripod on locked off shots. From a story beat perspective, I think adding more conflict and raising the stakes for you protagonist would really drive home the theme. What does he stand to lose?
Positives: Good POV shot at the start of the film. The light from the phone shot at 2:34 is a good one. You have some strong camera work at times, that helps create a strong mood for the film.
Improvements: The audio in the second scene is tough to hear. It is important to have strong audio otherwise you lose what the actors are saying, and it could be important to the story. I am not sure the music needs to be playing for a majority of the film. After a little bit is becomes a distraction, and it takes away from the film.
Positives: The shots throughout were clearly thought out and displayed a variety of compositions. The use of lighting was clear and creative. It helped move the story along and display the passage of time (ie the night shots towards the end).
Improvements: The audio could have benefitted from some clean up including a denoiser and better balance on the mics for the dialogue. The story was not clear at times and moved somewhat slow.
