  • 4/23 9:35 pm - Some nice work here. I like the intro with the player testimonials. Good shots throughout. Music seems to fit the vibe you are going for. One suggestion would be to slow the fade out of audio and video at the end for effect.
  • 3/4 11:43 am - POSITIVES: Strong opening with the VO's of the players personal stories. That's a great use of AUDIO! Great color transition with the player movement @:40! Strong shot variety--good job using a long enough lens to capture that! Good job mixing in the closer shots with the long shots, and timing some of the action within a clip to the music! I'm sure the team loved this recap! Nice closing shot of the whole team, to wrap up the story. AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: At the end, let your production credit have a moment by itself beyond the transition, and then cut to black.
  • 2/18 1:04 pm - -Great choice of audio to match the tone of the seniors at the start -Great transition to the colored shots -Good emotion shown throughout -Good use of nat sound (Cheers!)

Positives: The transition from black and white to color was really well timed with the music, and it achieved the emotional punch that it was intended for. The quotes from team players were a really nice touch to introduce the theme of the video, and you could tell in the following b-roll how well-bonded the girls are.

Improvements: I would have liked the girls interviewed at the beginning to sound more natural. It sounded like they wrote their answers out and then read them back as a voiceover, so they sounded a little wooden. You can interview someone and ask them questions to lead them to these answers instead. Ask them again and again — each time homing in on a specific soundbite that you need. You'll get much better soundbites! I would have liked to see some tighter shots. The scenes of the girls cheering or punching their fists were really memorable. A quick cut to just the girl's face and back out would hit really well emotionally. For example, at 1:20, when the girls go in for a hug and the girl in the white tank top leans her head back to celebrate, you could cut into a tight shot of just her head leaning back in ecstasy, and then cut back out to the establishing shot. Intentional use of tight shots really rachets up the emotionality.

Positives: Lots of nice action shots with a heartfelt intro by the graduating players.

Improvements: Not sure why the senior's words at the start are paired with B+W footage other than it's dramatic when it goes to color. Some scoreboard shots or text overlays highlighting their successes would be nice. A conclusion that mirrors the intro with the seniors speaking would have tied it up nicely. Highlight footage is fine, but video shot specifically for this project helps bring the story together. It's hard to develop a cohesive story with just disjointed contest clips and upbeat music.

Positives: The voiceover delivery was effective, complemented by well-balanced audio mixing between the narration, music soundtrack, and overall edit.

Improvements: The repetitive use of the grain filter obscured the visual clarity of the montage sequence. Consider varying your shot composition with close-ups, medium shots, and more dynamic angles to create visual diversity. The piece would benefit from including more team member perspectives and voices, as this would add depth to the narrative and provide viewers with better insight into the people behind the project.
