  • 4/14 9:41 am - Camera: Sideline and end zone shots capture gameplay well. 0:35 and 1:10 show solid use of zoom to frame action as it happens. Most compositions are functional, but not stylized. Consider alternate framing strategies—such as compressing backgrounds with a longer focal length or including player POV-style shots during warmups. Lighting: low-light clips like 1:40 lose subject separation due to flat stadium lighting. Shooting from the opposite angle (with the light source behind the camera) or slightly underexposing with a high ISO camera may help retain detail. PROS:Dynamic Action Coverage – (0:35, 0:48, 1:10) Fast-paced action is captured with energy and clarity. The camera consistently finds the ball and follows players without excessive shake or delay. 0:48 stands out with clean framing and tight tracking of the ball carrier. Effective Editing Rhythm – (throughout, especially 1:15–1:45) Music-driven pacing helps keep momentum. Game highlights are synced with cuts in a way that matches the energy of the footage. IMPROVEMENTS: Lighting & Time-of-Day Limitations – (0:20, 1:40) Evening and night game footage, particularly at 1:40, suffers from low visibility. Subjects are heavily silhouetted against stadium lights. Consider using brighter lenses or strategic positioning relative to light sources. Composition Variety – (general) While the action is well-covered, the shots rely heavily on mid/wide tracking from the sideline. Incorporating low-angle hero shots, crowd reaction cutaways, or close-up emotion captures could elevate the storytelling aspect. Your video succeeds as a high-energy highlight reel that captures the excitement of the sport. To push this reel further, more intentional framing, diverse shot selection, and refined lighting strategies—especially in low-light conditions—would be key.
  • 4/9 8:09 am - This works more for a school promo than this Cinematography category, as all the shots are taken in the same lighting environment from generally the same perspective. Mix it up to show more shots, you can establish and control the lighting to be more effective in this category.
  • 4/3 2:55 pm - While this is not a traditional reel per se, and the focus is exclusively on the football team as a kind of hype video, the diversity of shots are solid. however it looks like the video has been treated in some way in post-production with regard to color correction, and that's a bit of a distraction in the category of cinematography. Using a standard landscape frame would have benefited you obviously this is ready for social media in some form. Perhaps this would have been better suited for the school promotion category.
