- 4/17 4:16 pm - This is a very strong reel. It displays excellent cinematography craftsmanship in a variety of different contexts from careful use of lighting fundamentals also like composition and camera movements. It also includes lots of different situations and genres whether interior or exterior natural or artificial light, and overall it also showcases an absolute affinity for the craft and that comes through. Excellent job.
- 4/15 9:29 am - PROS - Strong Visual Diversity Across Settings – (0:12, 0:42, 1:18) The reel presents a thoughtful variety of indoor and outdoor locations, ranging from warm interiors to harsh daylight exteriors. 0:42 showcases great control of golden hour light, while 1:18 captures atmosphere through foggy, diffused lighting. Intentional Camera Framing and Movement – (0:22, 0:48) Camera work is mostly clean and considered. The dolly push at 0:22 adds tension, while the handheld follow at 0:48 keeps the subject grounded in their environment. IMPROVEMENTS - Inconsistent Exposure and Focus Issues – (0:35, 1:02) At 0:35, the highlight clipping on a subject’s face suggests auto-exposure was fighting the available light. Meanwhile, at 1:02, the focus seems to hunt briefly before locking on. Manual control or pre-pulling focus could resolve this. Lighting Control Could Be More Deliberate – (0:10, 1:12) A few low-light scenes like 0:10 feel underexposed or flat due to lack of motivated fill or key light. Practicing with off-camera lighting or diffusion tools could elevate mood and definition without losing realism. OVERALL - This reel is a strong submission that shows versatility, technical know-how, and an emerging visual identity. With a bit more precision in exposure and controlled lighting — especially in lower-light scenes — this work would be complete.
- 4/9 8:14 am - Nice variety of shots, great uses of both natural and artificial lighting to showcase your technical abilities. Great job using both motion and compositional perspective to add value for the audience. Good edit- using a familiar song to build the emotion and intensity of the shots worked well.
Judge 1
Positives: Creative array of shots including the window and picture frame.
Improvements: Limited variety, and has some flaws or imperfections, but it's not necessarily bad and has potential for improvement.
Judge 2
Positives: Well-done, KS.
You started strong with a shot with great framing and lighting.
Like the emphasis on faces and their expressions. The beuty shots were well done.
Improvements: I've said this to most of the students. Don't be afaid to bring up the natural sound.
Just a note. If you send your work to potential employers, go with instrumental music that most people would not recoginize as a 'popular' song.
Keep pressing on, KS! I see good things here. You put a lot of effort in this

Positives: The outdoor landscape shots were gorgeous! The framing and shot composition were on point, capturing the beauty of the surroundings while keeping everything well-balanced and visually engaging. You did a great job of showcasing the environment.
Improvements: Some of the indoor shots looked a little flat lighting-wise. Don’t be afraid to experiment and use your environment to bring in more light sources—things like lamps, reflective surfaces, or even practical lights can add depth and interest to your shots. A little extra light can really make a difference!
