Segment of Waubonsie Valley Boys Basketball broadcast vs. Naperville Central
Positives: Great work cutting around the hero player who scores from multiple angles. Reaction shots were great from both teams especially during the foul at 2:45. Shots were well color balanced and in focus.
Improvements: Talent mics were a little over modulated and announcers talked over each other. Some of the cams were shot a little too tight risking the chance of missed action. The replay came in really fast so good quick preparation and great job providing two different looks of the play, however I suggest waiting till a delay of game play so that you don't miss any game action which there was a foul that the viewer missed during the replay.
Positives: - Camera work was good throughout - game cam had a good, smooth feel as the action went up and down the court, and the other cameras did a good job having cutaway shots for the director to take. - Great use of replay - just watch how long you're taking in there. It's wonderful to have multiple angles to look at, but we never want to miss something happening live because we're still in a replay.
Improvements: - Audio was overmodulated every time the announcers got excited. For the audio, if you're in a situation like that where the announcers are frequently maxing out, bring down their levels and/or the gain on those channels. - For the announcers, there's an important lesson here about the difference between excitement and volume. It's great to get excited when big plays happen. But when you scream or significantly increase your volume level, your microphones will become overmodulated, and then the viewers won't be able to understand you at all. It's a really important thing to practice conveying excitement without yelling.
Positives: The announcers are almost too excited. Replays are good. Good coverage off of the action.
Improvements: The wide camera needs to push in when the action moves to the basket.
