  • 4/29 3:06 pm - Commercial Feedback – Converse Shoe Advertisement Story (Good – Clear Branding Direction) This commercial does a strong job leaning into lifestyle branding. By keeping the focus on the shoes rather than a specific individual, you allow the product to feel universal and accessible—an effective strategy for this type of brand. The tone and overall “vibe” are cohesive and engaging. To elevate this further, consider adding a slightly clearer narrative thread or visual progression so the commercial feels more intentionally structured from beginning to end. Camera (Strong with Creative Highlights) The match cuts are the standout feature of this commercial. The sequence of the shoes walking across the street is executed very well and demonstrates strong planning and technical awareness. The match cut involving the hand coming off the lens is also creative and ambitious. With that said, there was an opportunity to make that transition feel even more cohesive—using a ball instead of a hand, for example, would have better connected to the preceding action and strengthened continuity. Sound (Notable but Could Be Elevated) While the overall vibe is effective, consider how audio could further enhance the piece. Whether through music selection, ambient sound, or subtle effects, sound should reinforce the energy and identity of the brand. Thoughtful audio layering can push a good commercial into a great one. Lighting (Good) Lighting appears consistent and appropriate for the style of the commercial. There are no major issues that detract from the visuals, and the naturalistic approach fits well with the lifestyle tone you are aiming for. Editing (Strong Techniques, Needs Polish in Execution) Your editing shows clear creativity and technical skill, particularly with the match cuts. These transitions are well-timed and visually engaging. However, there are two areas to address: • Ending: The commercial cuts off abruptly, which disrupts the overall experience. A strong closing shot, logo, or tagline is essential in professional advertising to leave a lasting impression. • Stabilization: Some shots appear over-processed with warp stabilizer, resulting in a noticeable “wobble” or distortion. While stabilization tools can be helpful, overuse can degrade image quality. Focus on achieving stability during production—using a gimbal or improving handheld technique—so less correction is needed in post. Production Value (Good with Room for Growth) The overall aesthetic is cohesive and appealing, and the effort in planning your match cuts is evident. Continuing to refine your technical execution—particularly stabilization and ending structure—will help bring the production to a more professional level. ⸻ Overall Feedback This is a visually engaging commercial with a strong identity and excellent use of match cuts. The creativity and effort are clear, and the lifestyle branding approach is effective. To take this to the next level, focus on refining technical details—especially stabilization and how you conclude the commercial. With a more polished finish and intentional transitions, this piece could be highly competitive.
  • 4/20 8:17 am - The editing was great, and the camera shots were very engaging. The lighting was effective, and the utilization of the outdoor setting was well executed. For future projects, focus on improving stabilization for moving camera shots.
  • 3/9 12:41 pm - Solid camerawork and angles! Loved the color-coordinated shoes and text combination. I liked that there were shots of each person to give it some humanity. I do think that the camera work can be a little less shaky, even for the handheld look that you're going for. Otherwise fun production and nice idea!

Positives: - I liked the part where we saw multiple shoes walking down the street with match cuts between them. I also liked the scene of everyone sitting on the stairs. Cool transition with the ball hitting the camera. - Good song choice

Improvements: - Typeface could have been better - The ending felt a little abrupt. It didn’t really feel like there was an ending to the narrative and the music didn’t fade out.

Positives: Excellent concept. Establishing Converse first as a shoe known for sports and then bringing the product into everyday life is a strong idea - well done. Overall the edit is really nicely cut. Great setup and cut to music well. Camera work is also really strong and cutting to the different color shoes is wonderfully clever.

Improvements: Consider one or 2 more setups after :20. The idea is powerful and seems to run out of steam when the camera lingers on the steps then the car then back to the same setup on the steps. How can you elevate your idea from the moment you're at the car? Potentially revisit the styles and do some simple product shots of the shoes on a white backdrop and cut between colors like you did in the walking shots. Sound design would have elevated this to the next level. Subtle sound effect of birds / outside elements / everyone laughing on the steps. What is wonderful about this concept is that it feels authentic, and that is very difficult when we're selling something. Adding the subtle sound design would help with the natural authenticity.

Positives: Fun spot! The edit style is nice - match cutting, jump cuts, all that good stuff. The choice to use only a music track feels nice.

Improvements: I think more could've been put into the ending GFX I think some of the camera work with the roaming camera coulda been better, and more shot variety - get closer in there on the shoes!

Positives: Great job with this piece! I really enjoyed the indie feel. The visual style, pacing, and editing all align well with Converse’s brand and image. The camera work was engaging, and the overall visual style helped convey a strong narrative.

Improvements: It works within the style of the piece, but I did notice that the camera was slightly out of focus in some of the shoe shots. I would also recommend starting the piece with faster cutting, since the rest of the commercial uses a quick pace. Beginning that way could better match the overall style and help hook the audience more quickly. Great work!
