4/23 3:25 pm - Before even watching the video, I was curious to see what natural sounds the Crocheting club would have. As I watched the story my suspicions were confirmed, even though crocheting doesn’t make noise, you still could have had reactions of students “hey thats really nice”, “I like it”, “good job”, etc. The only real sounds I heard were the people speaking the whole time.
You had a good variety of B-Roll where I didn’t feel like I was looking at the same project being worked on from different angles, but what I thought was missing from this story was people! I never saw a wide shot of students doing this, having fun, etc and if this is a piece to promote the club, show the audience the fun that these students are having.
3/25 7:02 am - While what the instructors said was good information, there was no natural audio that helped to tell this story. Because crocheting is such a quiet event, it makes it hard to have any natural audio that can be used to help move the story forward. Some of the b-roll that was shot was out of focus, so be sure that you check your focus when shooting. The first shot with the teachers was very shaky - need to use a tripod or at the very least, some type of stabilizer.
3/4 11:26 am - Your interviews provided clear information about this club. This definitely felt more like a promotional video than a news story. I did love the variety of b-roll that you featured that provided an up close look at the work the students are doing. I would suggest working on expanding this story to have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Since this is an audio category, I would have liked to have heard more sounds from this club- think about how you could record the teacher "teaching" these skills or students interacting. What other sounds happen in this club that could support a story?
