Morton East
Animation Stop Motion

Entry Description

Thomas the Train goes for a trip like he does every day until something unusual happens.

Judge 1

Positives: The set was very nice. Good use of extra characters I.E. Percy and Isabella.

Improvements: Take advantage of the camera more. You have some interesting angles. Incorporate closeups. Get more eye level shots. Try mounting the camera on a train car to get some point of view shots. Lay more track. It would be effective to see a little more scenery.

Judge 2

Positives: Cute story. Has a real nice old silent film feel to it.

Improvements: Could have embraced a silent film look and feel even more, adding a scratched film filter would have added so much. Why was the ground moving along with Thomas? Where did the other two trains come from? Animation could have been a little smoother, seeing as how the train is on a track using wheels making it easier to animate.

Judge 3

Positives: Good story line. Smooth motion. Good variety of shots.

Improvements: Add more sfx. Why did the sand move... I thought it might be foreshadowing something that was going to occur. If it was simply because you rested your hand next to the train, be careful so that it doesn't happen. Might have given us a look into their personalities if you had given them voices instead of writing their statements.
