Above the Influence

Glenbrook South
Public Service Announcement

Entry Description

Don't do drugs. This is a Public Service Announcement about being above the influence. It depicts how common it is for a typical high school student to be under the influence.

Judge 1

Positives: This is an excellent, well-executed PSA! Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. Great use of visual effects and music.

Improvements: Motivation is important. There is some "audience-interpretation" required to understand why students are suddenly disappearing from the screen. That doesn't always translate very well in short-form commercials, such as a PSA. Keep up the great work!

Judge 2

Positives: Good shot composition, they were all framed well. Using statistics from students in your actual school was also a great idea.

Improvements: The shots were good, but there were only two. Don't be afraid to use a variety of shots and cut more often.

Judge 3

Positives: -The people fading out in the background helped a person relate to the percentage of students involved in drugs or alcohol. - The Gaussian blur of the image while showing the statistics was a nice touch.

Improvements: - I would have liked to have seen students personal experience with the subject and how it effected them. Example. (Students voice over music saying something like "Alcohol devastated my life" or "I used drugs and it almost killed me" and so on.) - The video has good statistics but could provide direction for the viewer as to how the uses of these substances affected them. It is one thing to say don't do drugs but it is important to say why you shouldn't do these things. -Hope this helps, over all great job.
