Entry Description

The music video portrays the bond between two sisters. Due to a tragic illness the younger sister dies leaving the older sister without the one person she really needed in life. Due to the 4 minute maximum i tried to portray the story as best as i could.

Judge 1

Positives: The story is moving and the acting is effective. Some shots are beautiful (flower blowing off tombstone, car mirror shot, bedroom "angel" shots)). Editing technically is effective.

Improvements: Some shots could be composed better and could be more effective to the story line. (i.e. cutting from 2-shot to another 2-shot of the same thing.) One power of editing is to manipulate time and space. You could've easily and effectively have told this story in four minutes. Work on using "the right" images to tell the story. (i.e. you could cut down some of the longer sequences and get to the death quicker.) I experienced some audio "skipping" for lack of a better term. (I played several times and it occurred in the same spots.) The ending is abrupt. Fade out audio.

Judge 2

Positives: Nice choice to include a key at the beginning. Liked the use of the empty swing at the beginning to symbolize what's to come. Good variety of footage used throughout - enjoyed seeing the cut to shoes when running, hand-holding, etc... Nice rear view mirror cutaway!

Improvements: Some footage was a bit too soft and dark at times - mostly the footage in the little girl's bedroom at the beginning. May be better to close the curtains and actually light the room. What about viewing the thoughts she was having of her sister in black and white to symbolize the memory? The grave stone chosen seemed to be quite old and weathered to be her sisters. Don't forget to fade to black at the end. Would've made more sense for the video to end at the cemetery, instead of back at the house.

Judge 3

Positives: The lighting for the outdoor shots was really beautiful. Your visuals really captured the relationship and happiness well.

Improvements: Some transitions were a little harsh - could use a few dissolves in certain places. While the story was heartwarming, I didn't understand what happened to the little girl.
