Entry Description

Inspired by true events and stories, Day and Night is the story of Adam Lode, a high school student struggling with depression. Unaware of his depression, his best friend attempts to help Adam in any way he can, though he is unaware of the stress and upset that it will cause him.

Judge 1

Positives: Vignette effect worked well for the trailer. Shots were composed well and set the mood. VO and organization felt right and fit the piece. Great Job!!!

Improvements: Audio needed some work harsh cuts and rough transitions made the trailer feel chopped along with some of the video cuts were rough as well. Lack of headroom in some of the shots did not work.

Judge 2

Positives: Very creative! Nice editing. You had some very creative compositions. You kept my attention. I would watch this movie!

Improvements: My biggest issue with this trailer is the tech. I am not sure if it was intended? but, very loosey/goosey handheld camera work. It made the piece feel like it was a cheap documentary. Again, I am not really sure if that is what you intended? Watch your focus and color temps. Audio was a bit all over the place with "levels". Peaks are good. Distortion is bad.

Judge 3

Positives: Good set up of narrative, character. Good development of suspense in story.

Improvements: Shot composition, lighting - use of existing light for most scenes. Audio in a few shots was lacking, need additional sound FX.
