I went downtown Chicago to film a story on the planning of the Macy's windows displays. I interviewed the manager of Macy's windows about the 2012 holiday display concept.
Positives: Loved the quick edits! Nice variety of edit techniques. Nice use of music to keep the piece moving.
Improvements: Even though I liked the music, because of the vocals, I would have faded it out during the interview. You can fade it back in when he's done talking, otherwise the song lyrics are competing with your sound bite. I would have liked the stand up close to be a little longer - and not so rushed! We WANT to see you - it's your moment on camera, give your sig out clearly and confidently. Nice piece!
Positives: Visual images were great and editing to the beat of the music was spot on. Conveyed your ideas, and images well.
Improvements: 1. If you shot the windows at night you would have had less reflections from behind that distract from the subject matter. ( Just pointing that fact out) 2. Music Sound under vo and interview could have come up just a tad but was very well done.
Positives: The editing to an upbeat piece of holiday music showcasing a number of images gave it a sense of excitement. Bridget Sovik did a nice intro and close.
Improvements: The SOT of Paul Anthony did a nice job of telling the story behind the windows BUT - it would have helped if either the iris on the camera had been opened up or additional illumination used for the video pick-up of Paul Anthony....he was a touch dark. At the very end when Bridget notes it's her favorite window - we really can't see if - had she stepped to the left or right side of frame - we probably could have seen more of the detail of the actual window that was her favorite.
