Stay With Me

Riverside Brookfield
Music Video

Entry Description

This is a music video about a boy who left the girl, and the girl loves the boy very much.

Judge 1

Positives: Doing an original song is so much harder to do than taking a music track and putting images to it. Kudos to you. The camera movement is nicely done. Smooth and even. I like the shot where the singer is by the window and the frame pulls out. (Don't start zooming back in though.) I think over all the editing is pretty good. The camera motion, slo-mo is fluid. However, the overall pace of the piece is a little slow. I like the end. "It's funny how the things that matter, can slowly away," works well with the shot of the hands and the juxtaposition of the quick fade out of video and audio.

Improvements: I think the shot composition on some of the shots could be better. The studio footage is technically sharp but the remote footage could have a better overall quality to it. I'd like to see more entertaining visuals. Sometimes the shots are a little long and more action or storyline is needed. (i.e. There's a lot of attention to the guitar (CU) which is nice but you could be showing other things or using different angles in the studio.)

Judge 2

Positives: Nice syncing of audio and video.Good to key the video - giving the artist credit. Nice lighting on talent playing the guitar. Both actors did a good job portraying proper emotion throughout. Good overall audio level. Liked the sepia tone color to symbolize the past.

Improvements: Pacing was slow throughout. Would be nice to see more layering... Close-ups of male and female talent's faces - possibly some point-of-view shots, more creative camera angles, etc. Video around 2:28 seemed a bit out of focus - critical focus prior to shooting.

Judge 3

Positives: Good job using color to tell time. Camera zooms were good. Creative lighting in studio setting.

Improvements: Pacing was very slow. Layered cutaways would help the pacing. The ending was abrupt and awkward.
