Entry Description

This story is about two frozen yogurt stores that are super popular in my area. I wanted to put this story together to show the difference in the two stores. This story involved a lot of tight shots throughout. Also because I had a lot of tight shots we were able to put together many montages in this story so that it was more visually appealing.

Judge 1

Positives: Nice movement of the camera as the operator dolly's back to pick up all of the ingredients. Nice split screen concept at top to note immediately that we're visiting two locations. Nice editing to beat of drum with multiple visuals. It was great to see the girls together at the close.

Improvements: Music mix at times was a bit too hot - especially over the most important part -the initial grading of one of the stores - it did come down on the second store and that was an improvement. Also at one spot it sounded as if the music bed had an edit hit in it. The opening shot of the second girl in the split is a tiny bit off focus - the definition of her face is not as exact as that of the first girl.

Judge 2

Positives: Great use of shots of products during the interviews. Great upbeat music worked well with the package and subject matter.

Improvements: A few of the edits during the music full were not on the beat of the music, slightly off.. just a few though. Overall the shots were a little dark could have added some lighting and MORE close up shots of the finished product!

Judge 3

Positives: Loved the use of music! Loved the editing to the beat of the music! Loved the use of graphics and fast forward. Visually appealing piece - fun story. Nice work!!

Improvements: Be careful when editing with music. There were a few times when I felt the music was competing with your voice track. Your editing was very well done, but since you're doing a fun piece, have MORE fun with it! Try a few special effects in your editing, perhaps some interesting dissolves! Very nice piece! :-)
