Feature story on holiday wishes of preschoolers

Judge 1

Positives: The whistling effect at the top was a nice touch. Lindsay wrote a nice open to set-up the piece.

Improvements: The whistling effect continued on and on - it was a bit too much. The little black boy who grabbed the mic had sound that was a bit over-modulated.

Judge 2

Positives: Art Linkletter would be proud ... kids say the darndest things. The kids are very cute and getting them to say anything on camera let alone what you want them to say is not easy. You did it. The kids kept my interest.

Improvements: Your shots should have varied and not had so much room on the right or left. Framing of a shot is very important for TV. Perhaps you wanted to show the handprints on the wall but thats not what the kids were talking about. Perhaps a diferent background or at least vary it.

Judge 3

Positives: The kids were totally cute! Very funny sound bites! Nice use of lav mics with the kids.

Improvements: I loved how your story started out! The kids were funny, but I felt it needed more storytelling. I was waiting for more track, or a bite from the teacher; a little more substance. Perhaps instead of having so many sound bites from the preschoolers, you could have used more video of the kids to break it up a little bit. Very nice effort!
