Entry Description

A news package highlighting the Astronomy Club for our news show - Newscene.

Judge 1

Positives: Nice use of B-roll visuals re: telescopes and pictures of sky. Mr. Cain's narrative was insightful, to the point and informative.

Improvements: A fade up from black to Mr. Cain would improve the piece. A dissolve rather than a cut from Mr. Cain to Mr. Cain with two others would improve the piece.

Judge 2

Positives: Your b-roll of the telescope worked well. The person you interviewed was extremely well spoken.

Improvements: You should have had shots of people in the club actually outdoors star gazing. Show how they track a certain star, planet etc. You should show shots from the club's telescope that they actually got.You should have spoken to other people and not just one person and you should have asked him questions and not just have him deliver his monolgue.

Judge 3

Positives: Very good use of appropriate video over track to help further explain the concept. Smooth editing technique - kept the story moving. Very interesting story!

Improvements: Since the piece is about a club, I would have liked to have seen more video of students participating in the activities. When conducting an interview, your interviewee should not look into the camera - he should be looking slightly off-camera, at the perso conducting the interview. Should also have a super, giving the interviewee's name and title. Excellent effort!
