Feature story on WV's Santa's Breakfast

Judge 1

Positives: Nice variety of video to illustrate your story. Nice use of editing over sound bites.

Improvements: Be careful when showing specific video over track/sound bites. The description of the event, music, pancakes, games didn't match the video - it was off by :02 or :03 seconds. Stand up opens can be challenging - perhaps a better way to start the piece would be your track, saying something to the effect of, "A very popular holiday event is back at WV, helping families in need. It's called "Santa's Breakfast" and it's sponsored by The Business Professionals of American." Then, go into the student bite explaining what BPA is. The stand-up close was cute - but I would make it a tad longer - give a concluding sentence, tighter on you, then pull out to reveal Santa, as you give your sig out and Ho Ho Ho! Very nice effort!

Judge 2

Positives: You used a lot of b-roll or shots of the actual kids activities. Very nice. You explained the goups purpose and goals extremely well.

Improvements: When you used the b-roll you did not use audio from it under the narration and or bites. You had a small violin group and miniture golf were the natural sound would have been very nice. How about a full screen graphic showing how someone could join and or help out if interested?

Judge 3

Positives: Very cute close. Nice angle on the golf shot having the camera on the floor as the ball moved towards the lens. Composition of the frame was well-done with over the shoulder shots that included action in the background.

Improvements: When the shots were taken in the kitchen area - the color temp was a tad off - possibly a white balance should have been taken just in that area. A little more light in that area would have helped. Also, a few of the individuals who gave sound bites could have used a kicker light to help illuminate their faces.
