Judge 1

Positives: Nice use of video to illustrate the story. Nice use of editing over sound bites and between sound bites to keep the pacing of the piece.

Improvements: Be careful with your audio. The levels from your track were not consistant with the levels from the sound bites. A stand up bridge would have been nice to break up some of the sound bites, yet still keep the flow of the piece. Perhaps something leading into how much pressure the runners have to deal with and how they cope. Then go into their sound. This would also give you an opportunity to super yourself, rather than have credits at the beginning of the piece. Nice effort!

Judge 2

Positives: Very nice b-roll Great interviews of runners. Nice use of natural sound.

Improvements: The head shots of the runners were to loose with to much lead room in front. They had way to much room in front of them.Female runner had to much head room. There was no reson to frame it that way the background didn't lend itself to the piece. Tighter shoots of runners in the b-roll action. You should have had more shots and not static shots. Zoom in and out show tight shots, close up of feet and legs.Mix it up and spice it up.Show the winner at the finish line and get some fan reaction. ( Probably only a few parents I know I ran track. ) Nice job just some suggestions.

Judge 3

Positives: The sound bites tell the story set-up by a tight script - so the piece was easy to understand and informational. The first sound bite transitions very nice with the script voice/over.

Improvements: Credits traditionally go at the end of a piece - they went at the beginning of this piece. The head room on the young lady's interview was a tad too much. There was a bit of a flash of a woman off camera moving into frame from right side - the editor should have gotten off of the shot a few frames earlier. Also, the videographer could have gotten a few tight shots of the runners to mix in with the wider shots - some of which were used more than once.
