How to Make a Longboard

Barrington
Demonstration

Entry Description

Mark Standiford and Matt Kuta demonstrate how to make a long board in this video.

Judge 1

Positives: Well organized and covers lots of ground. I'm glad the closing shot was one of the demonstrators gliding away on the longboard... nice touch.

Improvements: Too many jump cuts were a distraction for me. Also, instead of having a person talk about the next step on-camera and then cutting to the actual activity, more of the demonstration video could have been b-rolled over the on-camera delivery.

Judge 2

Positives: Very nice job. Great variety of shots and editing effects. The pacing of the narration with the b-roll worked very well.

Improvements: The music was good but a bit overpowering at times. There were times when I struggled to hear what was being said. Some nat. sound of the power tools would have worked good with the b-roll cutaways. I know you had to squeeze everything in but if you could have somehow incorporated a little more skating shots at the end would have been good.

Judge 3

Positives: Love your effects. They fit perfectly in this project. Good audio. I love this project. I feel like I can make a long board now.

Improvements: In the future think about having your voices be under the demonstration insted of being on camera for all the voice work. It would work on the project really well having you talking under the video. It would also help you cover any flubs and restarts you had doing you on cams. If you were to go back and reedit this with those minor changes it would be perfect.
