Positives: I liked the use of the color effect when retelling the story. Nice use of music to help tell the story as well as set the tone.

Improvements: Be careful when using special shots to emphasize a point. You can get the same point across just as effectively by using that shot over the sound bite. Otherwise you bring too much attention to the fact that you are using a special effect, instead of just telling your story. When using supers be careful not to leave them up too long. I would have taken them out when the shot changed. The use of music is great to set a tone, but be careful when editing. I liked the choice of Pink Floyd, but the edit needed to be a little tighter and a little smoother for consistency. Very good effort!

Positives: A very positive package on the heroic deeds of some young fast thinking young ladies, that did there job and then some. Visual images at the pool worked well. Using the camera in the pool, as a point of view perspective of the 911 victim was great. Music really helped tell the story and added to the reenactment of the events.

Improvements: There were two bad audio edits that were edited rather poorly and I noticed right away. When shooting the two heroes I would have done single shots on each one rather than a two shot. Would have been nice to hear from the woman who was rescued and or find out how she is doing. Real good spot... nice job by everyone.

Judge 3

Positives: The use of dramatic music at the top of the piece sets up that what follows is going to be a serious matter - nice touch. Use of B-Roll to recreate what the sister lifeguards experienced also drew the viewer in to the story. Great choice of song at end of piece - perfect for this kind of piece and without question it was emotionally moving with the shot of the girls and their smiles at the end.

Improvements: I would have liked to see the lower third supers identifying the girls up a bit longer - but other than that I don't have anything to add - this was a well-executed piece.
