A story for a special show on the Chicago Auto Show. We had three hours to shoot all of the video and interviews and put together a story on the new technologies in some of the new car models for the upcoming year.
Positives: Great editing. Great shot choices.
Improvements: Be careful to avoid profile shots whenever possible. A few name banner graphics would have been nice.
Positives: Perfect choice of music! Really kept the story moving. Loved the beautiful shots of the cars. You can tell a lot of hard work went in to shooting this and that the shooter is a car lover.
Improvements: The shots jumped around a lot. While I appreciate the photographer shot a ton of b-roll, you don't have to use off of it. Some dissolves would help with the flow. The subjects were poorly lit. Know your setting and prepare with extra lights or move your subjects to a better lit area.
Positives: Good opening with quick shots of the show. As a viewer that ropes me in. Good music to keep the piece moving. Good variety of models throughout piece. Cute reporter close.
Improvements: The voiceover was quick and brief off the top and because the closing was unique I would have liked to have seen an opening as well. Also, although the piece started with several shots of cars, it seemed to focus on too few within the actual piece... and some of the interviews got really technical that I found myself fading.
