Entry Description

This documentary details the increasing gang violence that is permeating the Chicago streets. It takes a brief look at the reason why we're seeing an increase and what measures can be put into place to stop the violence. The producer interviewed police officers, educators, students, and a former gang banger turned author, in order to provide credibility to this piece.

Judge 1

Positives: Like opening footage. Use of professionals helps validate story. Like L-cuts. Display of emotion from interviewees was well placed and added to story.

Improvements: Could have used more mature VO. Sometimes music seemed distracting and could have been a slower choice during tears to evoke more emotion from viewers.

Judge 2

Positives: effective use of b-roll with interviews; nice chroma key with interviews

Improvements: music levels underneath interviews needs to be brought up; audio levels are a bit inconsistent.

Judge 3

Positives: Good variety of interviews. Good lighting.

Improvements: Some sound distortion/echo. Overuse of background music.
