Humorous Narrative

Entry Description

This is a comedy video I produced to air at our school's variety show. It is a parody of other "diary" type reality shows. I hope you enjoy.

Judge 1

Positives: The editing and cuts to the scene in the woods were great and very funny. The use of black and white and syncing of the voices was also well done. Thought was definitely put into this project.

Improvements: This could have been so much better with a conclusion. I was entertained throughout the video only to be disappointed in the end. I felt like the students on this project ran out of time and the video "just ended."

Judge 2

Positives: I liked the use of both color and black and white to tell the story. It was effective to shift to B&W for the memory sequence. The angles and camera composition kept me engaged. It helped move the story line along.

Improvements: I'm not sure if the color balance of the color sequences were meant to be off for a stylistic "look", but it was a little odd. The ending was more creepy than funny. It didn't feel like it matched the rest of the narrative. It did give the talent an opportunity for some great sight gag expressions.

Judge 3

Positives: Well edited, good lighting and effective story telling

Improvements: I don't know the series being parodied here, so I am missing some of the humor--perhaps it relies too much on parody to stand humorously on its own
