A Stolen Heart

Glenbrook South
Humorous Narrative

Entry Description

Don and Eve, two detectives trying to solve a murder, find themselves putting their detective skills to the test. Nothing is as it seems in this murder mystery comedy.

Judge 1

Positives: Great use of insert shots like the close up of the wallet. Impressive attention to detail. The overall project was well produced. Great idea and excellent execution of acting and composition.

Improvements: Cut off heads doesnt really work well in the wide shots. While it can show intensity in a close up, it looks more like a mistake in a wide. There really wasnt much else besides that. Nice work.

Judge 2

Positives: Great use of title cards to set up each scene. Helped the audience understand the story and enhanced the tone. Overall creative and very original.

Improvements: Make sure not to cut off the top of a character's head in a wide shot. Watch the framing of all characters within a shot.

Judge 3

Positives: Choice of Shot Angles were nice and varied. Kudos on the interior refrigerator shot. Title cards were a nice choice to help establish new settings while keeping the pace of the piece quick.

Improvements: Be mindful of the 180 degree rule and to keep your camera and actors matching eye-line. Be sure to check grammar when making title cards, specifically the colons made them a bit confusing. Also, the spacing on screen of the text could have been truncated.
