This documentary is about Mr. Jozwik, a Glenbrook South teacher, who inspires students and fellow teachers. This video celebrates his commitment to learning, excellence, and love for history.
Positives: 1) Very well done - excellent story presentation! 2) Nice editing choices - image variety, placement of interview pieces and use of b-roll!
Improvements: 1) Interviewing framing and composition could be a little looser - felt very tight in the two teacher subjects. 2) Quality of WGN clips could be better - usually news organizations will give copies of original broadcast so you don't have to rely on old recordings / low resolution.
Positives: Great b-roll footage! The WGN footage was a nice touch. I want Joz to be MY teacher! Great interview framing. Thank God there is no white wall in the background. And the graphics are subtle and elegant. I like them.
Improvements: I would suggest that in the interview frame, while it looks like you may have a light on him, the background is a little brighter than your subject is. I spent more time looking outside than looking at your subject. He may have needed more light, or just a different background. Windows are tricky. But I am impressed that it worked that well.
Positives: Good story and documentation of this teacher's passion. Good combination of footage; photos, b-roll, interviews, news clips, etc. Great idea of including his story of what motivated him to become a teacher.
Improvements: Your audio levels are off a little. The narration is lower/ quieter than the interview segments at times. Nice interview setups with placing the subject just off to either side of the frame. However be careful not to cut off shoulders, and letting them fall off too far to one side. Keep in mind sometimes when the subjects are looking into the camera, they should be centered a little more.
