How to Make Sugar Pecans

Mundelein
Demonstration

Entry Description

Demonstration video created for our daily announcement program aired at the school. It was intended to be a 2 minute feature teaser instead of an an exhaustive "how to" video which is why it has a quicker pace and specific details are not as emphasized. The specific recipe was available for interested people to download after the broadcast.

Judge 1

Positives: The topic was very good... obviously seasonal. It was easy to follow the directions of the host.

Improvements: The audio would have been better if the host had a lav mike instead of using the camera-mounted microphone. Also, unless you are trying to have shakey video as an effect, which I don't think is the case in this video, use a tripod. Also, work on minimizing jump cuts.

Judge 2

Positives: Nice job. I wish I could have smelled the pecans cooking. The camera shots worked well and all the necessary details were present.

Improvements: Some issues with the audio. A couple of halting moments in the narration. Some of the cutaway shots were a little longer than necessary, but overall a really good job.

Judge 3

Positives: Very informative. Well executed. Nice flow.

Improvements: At times it seems like you were trying to force too many shots in. Sometimes less is more and the amount of shots and edits is really determined by the flow of the voice track and the music. So in the future maybe dont force as many shots.Watch your color balance and exposure as well.
