Humorous Narrative

Entry Description

The goal/challenge of this Humorous narrative was to tell a story of 4 different characters with different personalities and expectations without using any words in two minutes or less.

Judge 1

Positives: I think you guys met your goal. Great story idea. The physical emotion totally told the story. That its the bare bones basics of every great movie. Although in some movies those arent always people. Great use of close ups and inserts to show discomfort. Great shot composition.

Improvements: Try using a tripod if you have access to one. Or even put the camera on a stick or something. Those shots, (especially the close ups) on a tripod would have made the video so smooth and the characters emotion would have come through much stronger. Try expanding your horizons to new, great locations! I think this film would have killed if it took place on chairs in a small cafe or on a park bench or something.

Judge 2

Positives: Excellent song choice to tell a story. Great choices of music and pacing of the edit to connect with your audience.

Improvements: It is difficult to understand the relationship of the two other guys. One seems to be an annoying kid brother, I think? And the other is an ex boyfriend? Since you are not using dialogue, you can do this by adding action. They way a character acts or what he wears or even props can help distinguish a character.

Judge 3

Positives: Simplistic. Cute and interesting telling. Well done. Acting was very well done. Simple and effective. You can tell so much without words.

Improvements: I'm curious on what the story line is on the "green lantern" guy. Him sitting down inbetween was interesting and was hoping for a bit of a story line to explain his intent. Perhaps he didn't want to lose his best friend to a girl? Not sure. I think if there was one thing that could improve that would be to see about explaining his involvement. In this category, it's a hard thing to judge since this really isn't humorous but never the less very, very well done.
