Entry Description

The debate team at our school is simply amazing being nationally ranked for the better part of the last 30 years. They have double-digit state titles and even though students know about their success, little know what it takes to be that successful.

Judge 1

Positives: Good soundbites. Good writing/reporting

Improvements: I would have liked to hear what the fast talking was all about. Editing was a little choppy.

Judge 2

Positives: This piece was shot and edited very well. The bites fit the piece and helped tell the sotry. Nice use of graphics. They were easy to ready and looked professional.

Improvements: The one subject was talking very fast in a couple of the nat sound bites. It was a little distracting. Watch your levels. The VO was a little low also.

Judge 3

Positives: Perfect opening soundbyte! Caught my attention immediately. Good mix of interviews and soundbytes of debate clips. Very well organized and good explanation of the benefits of debate.

Improvements: Would have liked to see more clips of students debating with one another. There were a lot of trophy shots within the piece and I would have liked to have known how many wins the debate team has.
