Entry Description

This is a story produced for our school news show on an elite junior who specializes in ballroom dancing. Most at our school have no idea that she does this or how good she is. This is a profile on her dancing career.

Judge 1

Positives: Good reporting. You tell a great story. Good shot choices and editing.

Improvements: Wanted to see more of the dancing without talking. Be mindful of audio mixing. Some of the nat-sound editing was really abrupt.

Judge 2

Positives: Great interview, the bites were perfectly tied to the story. The graphics looked clean and were easy to read.

Improvements: Very poorly lit. This story is so visual, you don't want your viewers to struggle seeing the shots. Use more graphic reinforcement. Tell viewers where shots were taken.

Judge 3

Positives: Great organization to the story and original concept. Well positioned shots, especially the interviews (not centered... good!). Good use of video and pictures.

Improvements: Some of the interviews were dark (don't shoot with windows in the background). Would have liked to see some fancy dance moves right off the bat to catch my attention.
