Entry Description

At Mundelein high the students record a morning announcement news broadcast 3 times a week. These are live director centered productions with NO post production. Some days are good, some days turn my hair gray. This broadcast is from a Friday which we usually try and make more like a news show. Obviously the news stories were pre-taped, however the finished stories were all rolled in live during the broadcast. The weather segment was taped the day before because one class period doesn't allow enough time to do everything all in one day. Essentially in one day the script, was assembled, practiced, and a crew put all the pieces together in the live broadcast. This is not the complete broadcast, we usually roll a 2 minute teaser video to generate interest as an opening before the announcements. Because of the 10 minute time limit I only show the last 30 seconds of the opening video.

Judge 1

Positives: LOVE the beginning montage. Beautifully shot. Anchors speak clearly. Nice use of graphics. Video use excellent and nicely edited. Writing nice. Nice use of music. Julia very good presentation!!

Improvements: Katie, nice job overall, but you could use a little more enthusiasm. Sound needed to be better in pool story. Sound on theater piece uneven.

Positives: * Wonderful, lively introduction and conversational anchor reads * Good story content and loved the inclusion of the weather forecast

Improvements: * Consider adding visuals or video during the sports segment

Positives: Great anchors! Very professional as far as music, stories, and scripts.

Improvements: May want to shorten the opening video. Watch the nat sound on pieces.
