Luke's Love Life

York
Humorous Narrative

Entry Description

An unfortunate High School student goes on several dates gone very wrong in these webisodes.

Judge 1

Positives: Great use of slow motion and the confessional really worked out well.

Improvements: Never shoot in front of an open window. Not unless you have enough lighting inside to counter it. Should have closed the blinds in the cafeteria. Make sure sound effects are mixed into the audio. The fart effects were way louder than the rest. If they are coming from her butt, you should have them under the dialogue and maybe pan their audio more to one side. It will sound better that way. The dialogue was pretty humorous.

Judge 2

Positives: Great opening titles sequence, very creative and great way to set up each episode. Confessionals were a creative and great choice with the overall visual style. Good job pulling the audience into the story.

Improvements: Coverage when shooting will help your video flow smoother than being jarring. Shooting wide shots, close ups, medium shots and insert shots will help the overall flow and give you more options with the edit. Jump cuts take a viewer out of a story. Also make sure sound levels are match so your sound fx isn't overpowering and jarring to the audience.

Judge 3

Positives: The use of confessionals helped to enhance the audience's participation with the lead character "Luke". The opening titles were creative and fun.

Improvements: Shooting a scene multiple times with a wide, close-up & medium shot will help make the editorial process smooth, eliminate jump cuts and create an ease for story telling. Jump cuts can be very distracting to the audience if they are not used for intentionally to further the story telling process. Be mindful of backgrounds and color balance. i.e. closing the blinds can help off set the "bright white" on screen.
