Entry Description

Sometimes you need to let go.

Positives: 1. The camera work was VERY well done! The shot alongside the car driving down the road was a big highlight. Very impressive, especially for the age of the filmmakers. Even the opening shot with the title card was done to a near professional level. 2. The message of the story was very powerful. Especially for the way society has become so glued to their phones. Great relevant topic for kids nowadays to hopefully learn from texting and driving as well.

Improvements: 1. The final scene where the dead friend gives the line "you have the power to let me go" feels unnecessary. With this type of short film you want to go one or two directions. One, you can have the entire film be with music and no dialogue at all from start to finish. Or two (and would advise this one) add a few lines of dialogue where perhaps the friend tries to confront his friend about the constant texting. Perhaps consider changing that final line as well. 2. To piggyback off my previous note is to add more dialogue so that the video doesn't come off as a sort of music video. It is shot very well, edited together well, and lit well. You want a couple tiny parts of dialogue so that you match all those other areas listed.

Positives: Use of music was well placed in the project Loved the shot in the car, really showed the friendship and bond. And the texting while driving. I liked that.

Improvements: The cemetery shots needed better lighting, now i know we all have limited budgets. but a simple better placement of lighting could have been used. I feel like your vocal records sounded brutal, use of a boom mic would have been clutch here.
