Due to the increasing number of horrific and terrifying school shootings across the country, the Barrington220 School District has started an initiative to train its staff for unexpected high stress situations. This year, the focus was placed on preparing the staff at Station Middle School. With the assistance and guidance of the Barrington Police and Fire Departments, the district conducted a drill where all necessary steps were taken to address an Active Shooter crisis inside the school.

Judge 1

Positives: -great use of moving video over some of the interviews. (the young lady's first sot) -good editting

Improvements: - instead of being drawn in,the viewer is turned off. here's how you could've done this. Dont start a piece with "as part of an initiatve". better to use the nat sound pop you had and grab viewer's attention right away by showing me the guys running around, what they're doing. then explain why (in this particular piece anyway)

Judge 2

Positives: Strong sound bytes, excellent use of nat sounds

Improvements: camera work was too shaky, too many similar shots (zoom out after zoom out) would've preferred for camera movement to end before cutting to another shot that also included camera movement, intro to the sound bytes (we talked to the people involved...) was forced
