A pair of teenagers find a VHS tape in the woods. Upon taking it back to their house, they find its purpose to be far more sinister than they could have ever imagined. Will they survive?
Positives: * Good use of vintage coloring. * Excellent use of dramatic, tense music.
Improvements: * Too much audio hiss throughout, so the dialogue is hard to hear. * The ending scene, with the fade to black, is disappointing. I wanted more of a dramatic ending than just a match being lit. Perhaps flash to whatever he sees and then fade to black.
Positives: The score is well chosen and helps set the appropriate tone. It's edited well throughout the film. The film's premise is also compelling. It is not easy to craft a short horror film and this is definitely creepy.
Improvements: Because we understand the presence affecting the contents of the tape early on, we don't need to see as much with it. I would have liked to have more build of tension before things started happening to the characters. This is admittedly a very delicate balance and takes practice to get just right.
