A trailer for our recent school play.
Positives: This trailer for a production of "12 Angry Jurors" uses some effective editing to push the tension of the play's narrative, as well as the context in which the play is being performed (cross-cutting between casts – B&W versus Color). This editor has chosen great clips to showcase tension in the performance, and capably utilizes music to drive tension. Zooms/punches in camera-work help to dramatize the high-stakes situation this cast of characters is in.
Improvements: The motion graphics/text in the piece could take a more simple approach, fill up less of the frame – only deliver the most crucial information – and use some suspense-building SFX hits and rises to accent the graphics as they enter/exit frame. Lighting is a challenge to improve when working with a stage production, but some additional depth in lighting and color correction could add some intrigue to the piece.
Positives: Great performance! There is some interesting camera work. The high angle shots are very effective.
Improvements: Select a type treatment that is not so busy. Make sure it stands out from the background. You may have to blur the background to give the text a drop shadow. Use a tripod for some of the shots. There are effective handheld clips. They will be more impactful if that are intercut with more stable footage.
