Episode 10 of weekly news program, Warrior Update

Judge 1

Positives: There are good bites in Paris piece. I think the piece would be stronger if we heard a more thorough summary of what happened and how many people were killed, but it was a good idea to make the connection to students at the school. The students who were chosen had thoughtful things to say. In the piece on the players from the 1992 team, it was a good idea to start with what was happening in 1992 before the people working on this newscast were born.

Improvements: Overall I think the editing could have been better. The pacing at times was a little sluggish. The piece on the players from 1992 could have been shorter. The broll of the Memory Grove was good but the piece lacked the emotional impact that it could have had. There are good bites from the teacher but the piece could have been more powerful if we could have made a visual connection to at least one of the students. Perhaps it would have helped if the piece led off with the story of one of the students. I realize it might have been difficult to reach out, but it would have been interesting to hear from a family member or friend of someone remembered at the grove. Music and a better read might have also helped us to stop, think and feel more about this unusual place.
