Maddie Fontentot reports on a unique student-led program to bring music therapy to local elderly community members.

Judge 1

Positives: The story is very impressive. You covered an important and unique program that is run by young people. I find this touching and inspirational. There is a consistent look with camera work and color quality. The pacing of the project is effective as well. The story never dragged. It held my interest the entire time.

Improvements: Here a couple of things that may help to make this a little better. Consider using a few more close-ups in the b-roll. There is a very nice tight shot of a violin player which is effective. Make sure all camera moves and zooms are smooth. There were a couple that could have been better. It would have been effective to get an interview with one or two of the patients.

Positives: Nice job with a meaningful, inspiring story. I would have loved for you to have an interview with some of the patients! Great job with the interviews driving the story. I loved hearing how the program was impacting the musicians.

Improvements: Really tough to shoot in a room with a lot of window and sun! Make sure you are working the best you can with your lighting. maybe positioning your camera to shoot away from the window instead of in them Would have loved to see a few more tight shots of the music being played, patients smiling etc, Don't be afraid to help your subjects tighten up their answers so it's a cleaner bite for editing!
