This video was produced, directed and shot by student Jada Tolefree and required layers and layers of editing.
Positives: The styling, makeup, choreography and art direction are absolutely fantastic... I can tell a lot of care and thought was put into production design and wardrobe. This is a stong pop video with a lot of good energy. The editing was very poignant and sharp!
Improvements: The shots in the dance studio could have been framed better, for some reason, the person cut off in the foreground was jarring. The editing was well done at times, but a little too much at times. The editing shouldn't really take away from the meaning of the song-- which it does at times because it draws too much attention to itself. I would have liked to have seen more of a narrative story. I thought the shots and art direction were fantastic, but perhaps introduce more conflict through dance so that there is something to be resolved.
Positives: I have great appreciation for the editing effort that went into this video. It was clear that a lot of time was spent shooting the various scenes as well with the many cut-aways, etc. The mulitiple split screens were very well done, especially in the scene where it almost appeared as a loading doc. There was a consistent background throughout with the subject appearing maybe a dozen times.
Improvements: My only criticism regarding edits is your keying. The KEY to a good key are the edges, which were a bit sloppy around the hair. This is tricky, but might be the difference between a flawless edit and a really good edit. It is especially hard with a lot of movement.
