Music video of the song "Control," by the artist, Halsey.
Positives: Loved the cinematography in this video, specifically the foreground elements-- like when when there were cages and fences in the foreground with slight movement on the camera... This contributes to feelings of isolation and helps progress the story. I thought the lighting did a great job of portraying the mood of the video. If I turned the volume off and just watched the the story via images, I would still get the same feelings because the lighting does a good job. It is difficult to light things dark, and you did a great job.
Improvements: I thought the performance was very good and emotional, but I would have liked to have seen images that convey the story that exist outside of performance I thought the editing was good whenever it wasn't distracting. The video can stand alone without the rapid cutting like around 46 seconds. The image itself is powerful and you do not need to rely on editing tricks to add an element of style.
Positives: Overall, the setting used for your shoot matched the mood of the music really well and the lighting had a moody element to it as well, although maybe a bit more shaddows on the performer's face might have been nice. I liked the blurred opening, which drew attention towards the words on the screen.
Improvements: The mirror affect is over used and is a bit dated in my opinion. I brought back memories of music videos of the 80's and 90's. As mentioned earlier, a bit more moody lighting on the subject would be nice, especially with the white t-shirt.
