Every year, Navy Pier hosts the annual Chicago Flower and Garden show in which vendors and different landscaping companies have the opportunity to showcase their work. HTV News went to check it out!

Judge 1

Positives: Excellent work overall. Very effective b-roll. There is a variety of shots. You took the time and care to cover the event properly. Many of the shots capture the energy at the Flowed and Garden Show. This is a very colorful event. That was also apparent through the shot selection.

Improvements: There are a couple of shots that could be better.At 0:26 "...expanded floral displays..." consider a shot that show what the V.O. is describing. At about 1:06 the low angle shot feature the floor and people's feet. Consider finding something more reflective of the event. At about 1:24 the tilt shot doesn't support the V.O. Consider changing that as well.

Judge 2

Positives: I loved that you didn't use track or voiceover to tell your story. Great job using interviews to do it. I love that you had multiple perspectives. excellent choice of bites to weave a full engaging story together. A lot of people tend to do tell stories using track and it's not the most effective way to engage your audience. nice job! You did a nice job with sound especially in a noisy place. I love the myriad of broll shots- i can tell you spent a lot of time. A few times the visuals could have been matched up a little better but excellent job.

Improvements: I would have loved to see more broll of the flowers. a couple of your shots were more generic with people walking where you could have used tights of the flowers or something a little more engaging. but overall really nice job Would have loved to see lower thirds on the expert guy! A couple of the cuts were fairly noticeable for audio... just listen a little more carefully to smooth that out!
