Entry Description

A surreal short film about reality and how we experience existence.

Positives: Great cut from the computer screen to then cutting into what is on the computer screen. It really throws us into the world of the film. It also lets us share the perspective of our character since we're seeing what they're seeing. The distortion of the voice recording sounded great and made the sense of space and perspective of the room feel believable. It makes us feel like we're hearing it the way our character is hearing it, and also makes us feel like we are inside that room.

Improvements: The first shot we see of the flash drive on the floor could have been shorter. We see it for awhile before it gets picked up and it isn't giving us any information. It could have been helpful to know where it had come from or what it was for. Him cutting his finger on the thumb tack and then pulling out a band-aid didn't really make sense to me. It didn't seem necessary to the rest of the story and definitely could have been cut out. It adds the action of the character putting on a band-aid, but it didn't add anything to the story.

Judge 2

Positives: The film is very experimental and clearly the concept was well thought out prior to shooting. The camera work enhances this inclination. The shot of the main character's face from above is well composed and conveys the surreal nature of the film

Improvements: The audio static could be improved upon as it is noticeable and brings the viewer out of the narrative. Perhaps the use of room tone could improve this problem. The context of the scene's of every day life shown on the computer is unclear, are we in a post-apocalyptic world? who is the voice over? god? the narrator of the universe? More clarification would be helpful.

Positives: Great sound design. Well done. I like the idea of the story, and think that you do a really good job of linking the story to the topic. I the variety of shots that you have in a short period of time, and the video from the flashbacks adds to the whole video

Improvements: I wish that there was more backstory, about the character. I think there is a fair amount about him as a person, but why is the flash drive doing this, try to answer the questions.
