  • 4/27 5:08 pm - I thought the premise of the film is very well defined in the opening. Good use of audio/voice overs. Effective use of lighting to create tense atmosphere. Good shot composition.
  • 3/22 7:49 am - The sound is even right up until the end, that last little burst of loud music spikes significantly higher in a matter of moments. Scenes are framed well, the subject is easy to locate and there’s little distraction around them. Shaky camera shots add a POV type style, in which you’re added into the story itself.
  • 3/6 4:10 pm - The stylistic choices in this trailer did not seems to match the story. A film festival about making a horror film turns in to one in real life, yet all of the shots were very steady and were designed to look cinematic, which looses the raw feeling of reality. The sound design was a bit awkward, mostly because the dialogue was all left channel mono. The concept was interesting but the follow through did not live up to expectations. The storytelling is very strong and shines through in this piece.
Judge 1

Positives: Story points and setup were very clear, and the 'lullaby' quality to the soundtrack during the first 2/3 was effective.

Improvements: Using stylized lighting to further the horror/thriller narrative – and maybe shrouding the antagonist could have enhanced the mood and aesthetic of this trailer. Light was a bit flat, and camerawork could have taken on a more distinct perspective. Story was clear – but it would be nice to see the filmmaker take a step out of the narrative within a high school setting to explore a different subject, even though the self-referential nature of this piece was clever.

Judge 2

Positives: Looks like a fun idea for a movie. Brings the viewer in nicely.

Improvements: The ending is a little confusing and anti climatic. Hard to tell what was going on. Maybe a little more creative editing and sound effects could have strengthened it.
