How to Make Movie Style Popcorn - ID# 124

Lyons Township
Demonstration

Entry Description

This is a demonstration video that I made for class. I work at the movie theatre, so it was a natural fit to make the video. Plus, I had fun sharing the "inside" secrets about butter and salt.

  • 4/27 8:47 pm - Nice establishing shots at the start; engaging demonstration! Some feedback to consider: the titles/directions didn’t always aid the narration (too much text at times, odd placement)
  • 3/7 9:59 am - Nice music bed and slide shot of the bucket. I was a little thrown off by your description, as I thought this would be how to make 'movie style' at home. Consider v/o narration to help explain details and a wider variety of shots to get the viewer 'into the action'. Thanks for sharing.
  • 3/6 9:21 pm - Great demonstration overall. The camera shots all worked very well to visually demonstrate the task step by step. Your text font was easy to read and the music fit the theme of the show well. Some of your text was not on screen for a long enough period of time to comfortably read. Make sure you time those text cards out well. Overall, good work!

Positives: Some really nice shots, creative.

Improvements: Some graphics are to read with "busy" background. Really needed a narration track. Too complex for visual only.

Positives: Music worked well with the narrative. The setting was authentic.

Improvements: the title were you "dumped" the popcorn distracted me. some of the titles were to fast to read the whole thing. Language is important. Although most the demo was person free in one of the shots you could see another person in the background....this is before the bite. Lot's of salt and butter.

Positives: Excellent camera work and editing. This looks as if the project was well planned before you started your shoot. The music helped to set the upbeat tone of the video. The steps to make popcorn were easy to follow.

Improvements: Even though the font treatment was easy to read some of the text blocks with a lot of words could have been on screen a little longer. Even though this was a fast paced film I felt like I had to race reading some of the type.
