HTV Daily Announcements - ID# 148

John Hersey High School
News Program

Entry Description

Our news program entry is HTV's daily announcements, which are played in all classes at the conclusion of 2nd period each day. The inclusion of subtitles and interpreted announcements are due to fact that the NSSEO (Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization) deaf/hard of hearing program is housed at John Hersey High School.

  • 3/23 11:09 am - Opening is strong; rough transition to anchors. Why no set? They are sitting in front of a banner / Why does every student have a British accent? / Baked potato club- don’t get it- choppy editing, poor framing. What do they do- for real? If satire, there’s no POV. / Magic story-why don’t you film him- you use archival footage / Show too short-your competition submitted 10 mins!!! /
  • 2/28 2:13 pm - School announcement style broadcast, nice fast pace, lots of information included in the program. Audio was good throughout, studio and field reporting. Anchors, possibly because of the fast pacing and amount of information you're trying to present, keep working on getting comfortable on camera, try and let personality come out more. I thought the stories were interesting and a nice break from typical morning announcements. I also liked the inclusion of the sign language element on screen, though that might take some getting used to for viewers that aren't familiar with the program. I really liked the show intro-- dynamic shots, nice transitions and a variety of content is showcased in it.
