  • 3/7 2:47 pm - Great juxtaposition of imagary, closed in four walls with her demons vs. the wide open spaces in nature. Good use of effects and superimpositions. The symbolism was very effective. I would suggest making sure your tone stays serious. There were times where it almost got comical in the 'asylum' setting. Also, next time, I'd make the 'demon' characters a little more subtle.

Positives: Editing. Fantastic. Cuts to the beat were a great touch. It captured and reflected the terror inside the protagonist. It is evident the editor had a distinctive vision for the piece and executed it well. No real constructive criticism to offer. Camera/Lighting. Great! The warm, well composed shots in the field juxtaposed nicely against the horrifying strobe lights/security camera footage/under exposed asylum shots. The contrast between them was important in establishing and solidifying the mood. The technical execution on this piece is advanced.

Improvements: Story. After the beginning of the piece where it is established that the protagonist is dealing with some serious inner turmoil, it never evolves beyond that. It is OK that the piece is more abstract in nature so long as something exists with an arc. The visuals are chaotic and disturbed at the same intensity from the beginning to the end. If it had started subtly and then grown toward the end, or if the cuts had become more frenetic toward the end, just something to show a bit of an arc over time, it would have really taken this piece to the next level and complimented the editing and camera work. Location. There are three main locations in the video that work well, but after they are established start to feel stale. A few more locations or some exteriors, something, to give a little more visual variety to the piece would have been nice. After the first minute, we've pretty much seen everything new we're going to see and the rest of the video simply shows us variations of shots and tropes that we've already seen.

Positives: Music was an interesting choice.

Improvements: Hard to follow progression of story. Seemed like we were stuck on one moment in time.
