  • 4/27 9:10 pm - An interesting trick! The overhead shot was necessary for this (and the background staging of cards looked good), but, there wasn’t much to the rest of the camera work. The tutorial was informative and the on-screen drawings were a plus.
  • 3/7 11:13 am - Nice concept and a great shot angle for instruction. Maybe have this in the context of a show (title?) and who you are (expertise?). A bit jarring at the end and watch fade out doesn't cut off audio. Overall, a good demonstration.
  • 3/7 10:41 am - Great work! You did a great job of introducing the topic of the show and your process of demonstration was very thorough and carried the viewer through in a step-by-step manner. As an audience member, I felt like I could do this along with you, which is the best compliment you can give to a show such as this. I liked that we could see you at points throughout your demonstration show. Your primary setup had a couple of lighting hot spots that were distracting. Also, make sure your titles are in title safe. They were very close to the edge of the screen and they might bleed off on many television screens. Overall, great work!

Positives: Good narration/script. Clear and easy to understand.

Improvements: Backdrop of scattered cards made it more difficult to follow the action. Maybe another angle on the shots might have helped us see better exactly what you were doing.

Positives: Luke's demo was very clear as to how to hold the cards and how to practice to build up ones skills. His use of text and sound was clean and effective. The instruction was clear.

Improvements: Luke is a very engaging narrator, I understand that he has braces but voice and diction are important and I feel some of his words, although elegant, got slurred a bit in the middle and abrupt at the end. I would like to have heard a bit more about his back story and where his expertise came from.

Positives: The lighting and camera angle worked very well. The colors were vibrant and the shot choice made it easy to see the important actions of your demo. The use of a tripod made your project much more enjoyable to watch.

Improvements: They text was a little too close to the edge of the frame. Your editing software should have grids that show the limits of the placement of your titles. Use a little more B-roll. The cutaway screen near the end of your film was refreshing. A little more of those types of elements will add another dimension to your project.
