  • 4/14 1:40 pm - Positives: Some of your camera movements are very impressive! I particularly like the opening shot, the follow shot of the guy with the bat, following the guy in the blackhawks jacket, and the slow dolly out of the two people sitting by the lockers. I also thought the running shot was impressive. Improvements: Lighting could have been improved--some shots are too dark --the medium shot of the athletes transforming is very cool--but it's too dark. The editing seemed a little slow to me--I would have liked to have seen more shot variety at a faster pace.
  • 3/3 2:54 pm - I appreciate the many steadicam shots in your work. Most notable of these are the impressively long opening shot (Even though it’s blown out) and the running shot. Both add narrative value, and aren’t unmotivated movements add simply for stylistic embellishment. Additionally, the shots demonstrate purposive planning, which is always appreciated. Additionally, I like the use of lighting in the study scene and the football player scene. Your use of light and the contrasting blackness helps to add drama to each scene while drawing the viewer’s eye to what is important. The 3rd and 4th bathtub shots weren’t framed in a way that accentuates the action or provide the viewer much information. The audience barely sees who is submerged or understands why they are--they are already underwater, and the angle of the camera to the action doesn’t reveal much of the talent’s face.
  • 2/28 4:30 pm - Nice variety of work that you incorporated, the mini montages held elements of the story together. The opening shot was really hard to focus on as we didn't have context as a viewer to decipher what was happening. The football player match in low light worked, but the running through the forest and fight just didn't work with the exposure and compositional elements, with the exception of the drop down to the bat. The drowning scene was also under-shot, a lot of different angles could have helped show your perspective as a DP. The shot at the end was out of focus (check the locker) so it's not a strong way to end it.
